Huntington St. Joe beats Charleston Catholic
CHARLESTON - Huntington St. Joe evened its record at 2-2 Thursday with a 9-5 victory over Charleston Catholic (1-1) in high school baseball.
Hunter Eplin gave up no runs and two hits in earning the victory. Bronson Barker earned a save.
St. Joe returns to action with two games at East Carter on Saturday. The first is against Russell at 3:30 p.m., followed by a 5:30 p.m. contest with the host Raiders.
WAHAMA 11, LINCOLN COUNTY 10: Jonathan Frye singled in Ethyn Barnitz with the winning run in the bottom of the seventh inning to give the White Falcons (2-0) a victory over the Panthers (1-2).
Antonio Serevicz had three hits, one a home run, and five RBI for the White Falcons. Frye pitched a scoreless inning of relief to earn the victory. Frye, Brady Bumgarner, Trevor Hunt and David Hendrick smacked two hits apiece. Frye drove in three runs and Hendrick two.
Trace Adkins had two hits for the Panthers. Eli Kirkendall drove in two runs.
NITRO 10, WAYNE 0: Peyton Tolley pitched a five-inning shutout and Mason Hamrick drove in four runs with a pair of hits for the host Wildcats. Wes Medley was 3-for-3 and Logan Gaddy 2-for-3 for Nitro. Dallas Napier went 2-for-2 for the Pioneers.
POCA 9, HERBERT HOOVER 4: The Dots scored four runs in the first inning on their way to a triumph over the Huskies. Ethan Payne had three hits, two of them doubles for Poca. Jacob Blizzard doubled twice. James Cook added three hits for Poca. Evan McGraw had two hits, including a triple, for Herbert Hoover.
BUFFALO 13, HANNAN 3: Dylan Jividen got the pitching win and went 3-for-3 with two doubles and an RBI to spark the host Bison (2-0) to victory. Preston Tucker drove in four runs for Buffalo with a pair of doubles.
