2 dead, 1 hurt, in crash on I-395 in Norwich
NORWICH, Conn. (AP) — Authorities say an elderly couple died and a third person was hurt in a multi-vehicle crash on Interstate 395 in Norwich.
Connecticut State Police say the crash occurred in the northbound lanes at about 6:30 p.m. Saturday.
State police say 85-year-old John Adams and 79-year-old Joan Adams, of Uncasville, were driving south when their car veered onto the right shoulder, then back across both travel lanes all the way to the center median and crashed through a guard rail into the northbound lanes.
They were both declared dead.
The driver of a vehicle they struck head-on, 23-year-old Amber Castle, of Norwich, was hurt and taken to the hospital. A family of three in a third vehicle, including a 2-year-old girl, was not injured.
The accident investigation is continuing.
