2nd charge against Missouri man whose wife disappeared
COLUMBIA, Mo. (AP) — A man suspected in the disappearance of his wife in Columbia is facing an additional charge.
KMIZ-TV reports Boone County Prosecutors Dan Knight on Monday filed an amended complaint adding a first-degree child endangerment charge against Joseph Elledge, who previously was charged with abuse or neglect of a child.
The revised complaint accuses Elledge of grabbing or striking a minor child between Jan. 1 and Feb. 12.
Prosecutors have called Elledge the prime suspect in the disappearance of his 28-year-old wife, Mengqi Ji Elledge, who has been missing since Oct. 8. He has not been charged in his wife’s disappearance.
The couple have a 1-year-old daughter.
Elledge is currently being held in the Boone County jail on $500,000 cash-only bond.
The next hearing is scheduled for Nov. 26.
