CNN says Anthony Bourdain found dead of suicide at 61
Celebrated chef and TV personality Anthony Bourdain is dead.
CNN is reporting Bourdain was found unresponsive in his hotel room on Friday in France by close friend Eric Ripert.
“It is with extraordinary sadness we can confirm the death of our friend and colleague, Anthony Bourdain,” the network said in a statement Friday morning. “His love of great adventure, new friends, fine food and drink and the remarkable stories of the world made him a unique storyteller. His talents never ceased to amaze us and we will miss him very much. Our thoughts and prayers are with his daughter and family at this incredibly difficult time.”
CNN reported they had confirmed Bourdain’s death on Friday was a suicide.
Bourdain was in France to work on an upcoming episode of his Emmy-award-winning CNN series.
In 2017, Bourdain’s “Parts Unknown” series came to Pittsburgh to film an episode, visiting Pittsburgh’s independent wrestling circuit, the International Wrestling Cartel and chef Kevin Sousa’s Superior Motors restaurant in Braddock.
