Lake Havasu City has announced its four finalists vying for the city manager post.

Current City Manager Charlie Cassens is planning to retire at the end of the year, after which time one of the four candidates will fill his position. His retirement will become effective Dec. 29.

The finalists include Anthony Carson, a city manager in Illinois, William Malinen, a former city administrator in Missouri, Jess Knudson, an assistant town manager in Florence, Arizona and Havasu’s own Community Investment Director J. Greg Froslie.

Froslie was not immediately available to comment.

According to Shirlee Palbicki, human resources’ manager for the city, the candidates will participate in interviews Monday, which will be followed by a stakeholder reception in the afternoon. On Nov. 28, the candidates will be given a guided tour of the city along with a couple of city council members, Palbicki added.

“Hopefully there will be some direction to move forward after the (Nov. 28) council meeting,” she said.

There were more than 50 applications submitted for the position. The deadline was Oct. 25. With help from consultant Springsted Waters, Palbicki said they were able to narrow the list of applicants down to its finalists in the span of three weeks.

Springsted Waters will continue to provide assistance with the final four candidates, she added.
