Children Invited To Help Paint Mural

June 6, 2018 GMT

WILKES-BARRE — The Riverfront Parks Committee is inviting children 3 and older to help paint a community mural titled “A trip down the river without getting your feet wet.” The event will take place from 10 to 2 Saturday at the Barnes & Noble Wilkes-King’s Bookstore, 7 S. Main St., Wilkes-Barre. The painting will be a child’s view of the river with the assistance of Jan Lokuta, local artist, attorney and environmental advocate. No special training or experience is needed and all supplies and equipment will be provided. This annual event is a prelude to RiverFest which is scheduled for June 22-24 along the Susquehanna River in Nesbitt Park. If the mural is not completed Saturday, it will be available for children to paint on June 23. If the mural is completed, another will be on site. The Riverfront Parks Committee is a nonprofit dedicated to educating the Wilkes-Barre community about the environment and nature. — STAFF REPORT
