Eagle Materials: Fiscal 4Q Earnings Snapshot

DALLAS (AP) _ Eagle Materials Inc. (EXP) on Tuesday reported fiscal fourth-quarter net income of $72.4 million, after reporting a loss in the same period a year earlier.

On a per-share basis, the Dallas-based company said it had profit of $1.74. Earnings, adjusted for non-recurring gains, were $1.28 per share.

The results surpassed Wall Street expectations. The average estimate of six analysts surveyed by Zacks Investment Research was for earnings of 85 cents per share.

The maker of gypsum wallboard and cement posted revenue of $315.4 million in the period, which also topped Street forecasts. Five analysts surveyed by Zacks expected $285.3 million.


For the year, the company reported profit of $70.9 million, or $1.68 per share. Revenue was reported as $1.45 billion.

Eagle Materials shares have decreased 34% since the beginning of the year. The stock has decreased 35% in the last 12 months.
