Two UAlbany players on preseason all-conference team

October 18, 2017

University at Albany junior guards Joe Cremo and David Nichols are among seven players selected to the America East men’s basketball preseason all-conference team, the league announced Wednesday morning.

The team was determined by a vote of the league’s nine head coaches, who were not permitted to vote for their own players.

Cremo, a native of Scotia, is a preseason all-conference choice for the second straight year. He made the all-America East second team last season, ranking ninth among league leaders in scoring (15.8) and adding 5.3 rebounds per game.

He accumulated more minutes than any conference player last season.

Nichols, a Chicago native, was the only sophomore on last year’s all-America EAst first team. He was fourth in the league in scoring (17.9), more than 15 points higher than his freshman season, and helped the Great Danes reach the conference championship game for the fourth time in five years.

The America East basketball preseason poll will be announced Thursday.
