Boston man convicted of killing neighbor
BOSTON (AP) — A Boston man has been sentenced to life in prison for beating his 50-year-old neighbor to death with a baseball bat.
Cristian Rodriguez was sentenced to life in prison without parole on Wednesday following his conviction in Suffolk Superior Court on a first-degree murder charge for the February 2012 death of Roosevelt Harris.
Prosecutors say the two men lived next door to each other in the rooming house and had frequent disputes over money and food missing from the Roxbury home’s shared kitchen.
The 38-year-old Rodriguez said he was mentally ill and therefore could not be held responsible for Harris’ death.
