Fred Hoiberg was formally introduced as the new Nebraska men’s basketball coach at 3 p.m. at Memorial Stadium, but the former Iowa State and Chicago Bulls head coach took to Twitter on Tuesday to address Husker Nation for the first time.

“I am here in Lincoln, and it’s time to get started,” Hoiberg said in the video. “Go Big Red.”

“With everything that this place has to offer, when I came back a couple years ago when I was with the Bulls and we played an exhibition at Pinnacle Bank Arena, I was just blown away,” Hoiberg said in an interview with Nebraska’s Greg Sharpe. “You don’t see many college arenas that nice.

“The facilities are off the chart and the fan support … it’s just a really exciting time to be a Husker.”

Hoiberg said there’s no reason that Nebraska can’t compete at the highest level with the facilities the Huskers have.

“We should be able to attract some pretty big-time players.”
