BBC filming documentary at Camp Carson
PRINCETON — “Professor Sprout” is coming to Gibson County this month, as YMCA Camp Carson hosts award winning Harry Potter actress Miriam Margolyes for three days of filming a documentary segment for the British Broadcasting Corp.
The stop in Gibson County July 16-19 is part of a 1,000-mile road trip, from Chicago to New Orleans, for a new series for the BBC, according to a news release from YMCA Camp Carson.
During her time here, Margolyes will learn what the camp experience offers children and young adults and how this shapes their growth and development into young adults and American citizens. Shadowing members of Camp Carson staff, she may assist with the facilitating camp activities and offer her own talents in performance and play opportunities at camp.
Founded in 1940, YMCA Camp Carson offers weeklong summer camps through June and July for children ages 7 to 16. Activities include traditional camp programs as well as special activity camps for horseback and dirt bikes. The facility also partners to offer camps for children of military families and children with Type 1 Diabetes, and is the site for several events for local youth.
The campgrounds and Lake Seminole are just east of Princeton.
