‘Monster’ Truck Loses Control, Killing One and Injuring at Least Eight
NIAGARA FALLS, N.Y. (AP) _ An oversized pickup truck lost control at a ″monster″ truck show Saturday night, crushing to death an 82-year-man and injuring at least eight other people, hospital officials said.
Details of the accident at the Niagara Falls Convention Center were not immediately available. A witness said the truck plowed into the crowd of spectators.
City police confirmed that the accident occurred and that some people were injured, but provided no other information.
An 82-year-old man crushed by the truck was pronounced dead at Niagara Falls Memorial Medical Center, said Diane Gelose, nursing supervisor. Three other men and a 10-year-old boy were treated at the hospital after the accident, but their injuries didn’t appear serious, she said.
Officials at the Children’s Hospital in Buffalo said they treated three children hurt in the incident.
The 38-year-old truck driver was treated for a concussion at Mount St. Mary’s Hospital in Lewiston, near Niagara Falls, said spokeswoman Barbara Bucci.
