UNC hires Moore as an assistant women’s basketball coach
CHAPEL HILL, N.C. (AP) — New North Carolina women’s basketball coach Courtney Banghart has hired Carrie Moore as an assistant coach and recruiting coordinator.
The school announced Moore’s hiring Tuesday. Moore had spent five years working under Banghart at Princeton, first in a two-year stint as director of basketball operations and then the past three years as an assistant coach.
Moore also spent five years as an assistant coach at Creighton before rejoining Banghart’s staff at Princeton in 2016.
In a statement, Banghart said: “I’m better when having her by my side.”
Moore played at Western Michigan and was the nation’s leading scorer at 25.4 points per game during the 2006-07 season. She later signed with Phoenix as a WNBA free agent before playing professionally in Poland.
