Betty J. Kluth, 87, Portage

Betty J. Kluth, 87, passed away peacefully at Tivoli at Divine Savior Healthcare in Portage, on Jan. 2, 2019.

She was born March 2, 1931, in Montello, the daughter of Edward and Evelyn Atkinson-Kluth.

Betty attended Portage schools. She worked at Weyenberg shoe factory for over 30 years until it closed, and worked at Divine Savior Hospital in the laundry. She was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church. She loved animals and always had a couple of rescue cats from the Humane Society at her side at home. She liked reading mystery books, solving jigsaw and crossword puzzles and country music. She loved to visit with family and to cook and bake and treat friends and relatives.

She is survived by her son, Craig Kluth; her sister, Lois Krulc; brother, Fred Kluth; many relatives and dear friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, Evelyn Atkinson-Kluth and Edward Kluth; her sisters, Alice Lobby, Elaine Irion and Deborah Jacobs; brothers, Floyd Kluth, Duane Kluth and Charles Kluth; nephews, Scott Kluth and Randy Kluth; and a niece, Janet Irion.

The family would like to thank the entire staff and residents at Tivoli for their care and support and a special thank you to nurse Peggy who made mother smile even on the bad days and Agrace Hospice care for making her comfortable and Dr. Gerald Krumpos and his staff for all the years of care for Betty.

As per mother’s wishes, there will be no funeral service. Betty will be laid to rest at Oak Grove Cemetery in Portage.
