Middies Take It to Tyngsboro on Soccer Pitch

Dracut beat Tyngsboro, 3-1, in a non-league boys soccer game on Saturday.

The victory was the second is as many days for the Middies (8-2-3), who blanked Billerica, 1-0, in an MVC Division 2 game Friday.

After trailing 1-0 at halftime, the Middies got second half goals from Jacob Freitas, Matt Robichaud and Brendan Davis.

Dalton Lee scored Tyngsboro’s goal with an assist from Dillon Hyland.

Keeper Marcantonio (10 saves) and defender Nolan Michaud played well for the Tigers (4-5-2).

In Dracut’s win over Billerica on Friday, James Fazio scored the winning goal in the 65th minute.

Defender Shawn Fisher and midfielder Zack Wilson played well for the Middies.

N. Middlesex 1

Leominster topped North Middlesex in a Midland-Wachusett League game.

Owen Marr scored the North Middlesex goal.

Framingham 2

George Zuleta and Poe Reh scored 1 goal each as Lowell tied Framingham in a non-league game.

Vinicius Silochi and Steven Monsalve added 1 assist each. Edgar Delannoy made 4 saves in goal. James DiGiovanni, Jason Son, Eleazer Fatake and Monsalve had strong games on defense.

On Friday, goals by Gustavo Figueiredo, Silochi and Nata De Souza lifted Lowell past Andover, 3-0, in an MVC Div. 1 game.

Silochi also tallied 2 assists. Delannoy made 6 saves in goal. Colin Kuczek, Mason Leboueuf and Nathaniel Harris played well in the midfield.

Peabody 1

Billerica 0

Marco Cugno made 12 saves in goal for Billerica during this non-league loss to Peabody.

Johnny Bragg and Michael Bragg had strong all-around games for the Indians (4-6-2).

Chelmsford 3

Central Catholic 0

Ben Thompson scored 2 goals, one of which was on a penalty kick, as Chelmsford blanked Central Catholic in an MVC Div. 1 game on Friday.

Josh Ofosu scored the Lions first goal with an assist from Elias Parreira.


Chelmsford 4

Lowell 0

Shailagh Corcoran scored 3 goals while powering Chelmsford past Lowell in an MVC game played on Friday.

Meg Goode netted the other Lion goal with an assist from Abbey Quirbach.

Kate Krueger notched the shutout in goal. Emma Hatch played well for Chelmsford.

Shannon Fitzgerald led the way on offense for Shawsheen Tech with 2 goals and 2 assists.

Monique Kazelyan tallied 3 goals for the Rams.

Maya DiMino, Talia Steed and Jenna Nelson potted 1 goal each for the Rams. Megan Brown added 2 assists, while Rylie Lage and Rebecca Smith had 1 assist each.

Taylor Sacco (8 saves) and Shelby Bourdeau (3 saves) combined for the win in goal.


Tewksbury 17.5

Chelmsford 2.5

Tewksbury clinched the MVC Div. 2 championship with a win over Chelmsford on Friday at Trull Brook Golf Course.

The Redmen improved to 8-5 overall and 8-0 in MVC Div. 2.

Tewksbury’s individual winners were Cam Grace (39, 4&3), Kyle Lombardo (3&1), Michael Lombardo (39, 2&1), Ben Froment (1-up), Anthony Pecci (4&3), Campell Pierce (1-up) and Garrett Kingston (1-up).

Teaming up for four ball wins were the teams of Grace and Lombardo (3&2), Polimeno and Froment (2&1) and Pierce and Kingston (1-up).

Coming through with a win for Chelmsford was Thomas Slattery (1-up).


Pelham 3

ConVal 1

Maria Dagher had 15 service points and 3 blocks while helping Pelham top ConVal, 25-17, 19-25, 25-11, 25-14, in a New Hampshire Division 2 match.

Natalia Villanueva chipped in with 4 kills and 12 digs.

Ally Altieri (7 assists), Elise Hooper (10 digs), Paige Demmons (3 kills) and Renae Cerri (3 kills) played well.



The Lowell High boys and girls cross country teams ran well at the Manhattan Invitational at Van Cortlandt Park in the Bronx.

The Red Raider boys placed seventh overall with 240 points while running in the Coach Peter Walters Memorial 4K Varsity Race, which featured 32 teams from 11 states.

BC High was the team champion with 127 points.

Leading the way for Lowell were Jadiel Pinales (9th, 13:11), Joeben Jacobs (21st, 13:42), Ricky Thyne (27th, 13:49) and Juan Giron (69th, 14:32).

The Red Raider girls placed 14th in the team standings. Slap Mirambeaux (43rd,16:46), Lindsey Ahern (54th, 16:58), Sarah Ames (63rd, 17:09), Erin McCabe (72nd, 17:17) and Annie Rizos (85th, 17:31) turned in strong runs for Lowell.

In the junior varsity race Lowell placed seventh in the team standings. Running well for the Red Raiders were Kale Sam (20th, 17:40), Anna Woodlock (21st, 17:41), Zil Bhagat (34th, 18:15), Hannah McAnespie (72nd, 19:14) and Madison Morneau (103rd, 20:09).


The Tyngsboro boys and girls teams competed at the Bay State Invitational at Northfield Mountain.

In the boys 5K race, Tyngsboro received strong showings from Nick Tassinari (64th, 18:26.35) and Andrew Parker (98th, 19:15.93).

Leading the way for the Tigers in the girls 5K races was Emma Angelo (91st, 23:40.26).
