Man charged in connection with girlfriend’s death
MERIDEN, Conn. (AP) — Police in Connecticut have arrested a 20-year-old man in connection with the death of his girlfriend.
Meriden police say they responded to a city home at about 11 p.m. Wednesday for reports of an injured woman. Inside they found a 21-year-old woman suffering from a stab wound to the chest. She was treated at scene and taken to the hospital where she was pronounced dead.
Police later arrested the victim’s boyfriend, Mateus Nasciento-Dacosta, of Danbury, who had turned himself in to Waterbury police.
He was charged with three counts of violating a protective order. He is being held on $1 million bond pending a court appearance Thursday. Police say more charges are possible.
It could not be determined if he has a lawyer.
The victim’s name was not made public.
