Two arrested in Fort Mohave homicide

February 7, 2018

BULLHEAD CITY — Mohave County Sheriff’s detectives have arrested two people in connection with a Jan. 10 homicide in Fort Mohave.

Francisco Javier Romero, 26, and Lamya Lynn Bencheqroun, 26, both of Bullhead City, were arrested on suspicion of two counts each of first-degree homicide, conspiracy to commit murder and kidnapping.

Sheriff’s deputies responded Jan. 10 to a report of a dead body found near a burnt vehicle in a desert area east of Fort Mohave.

While at the scene, sheriff’s office spokeswoman Sue Callahan said, deputies discovered a second body.

The victims were later identified as Mona Carter, 51, and Daryl Ward, 22, both of Bullhead City.

“Evidence found at the scene led detectives to believe this was a double homicide,” she said at the time.

Callahan said Tuesday that the investigation remains active and no new information is available.
