Petition calls for Saltillo Road upgrades following crash
More than 8,700 people have signed an online petition calling for changes to Saltillo Road following the Sunday crash that killed Norris High junior Brianna Titterington.
Titterington died Monday afternoon, a day after she was involved in a head-on crash on Saltillo Road west of 68th Street. The Lancaster County Sheriff’s Office is still investigating the crash but says alcohol is not believed to be a factor.
The petition was posted on Change.org by a women who identified herself as a nurse who happened upon another deadly crash in southern Lancaster County last year — the October wreck that killed 13-year-old Norris student Ryan Post. That crash happened on South 68th Street.
“There are countless high school students who use this road and Saltillo Road to get to school, work, or just everyday travel,” the petition reads. “We owe it to them and anyone else traveling these roads to make them safer. Please!”
The petition is addressed to Lancaster County Engineer Pam Dingman.
County officials, including Dingman, have identified Saltillo as a road in need of updates but have struggled to find funding for the work.
