“Black-ish” star Anthony Anderson and La La Anthony of the STARZ drama “Power” welcome some of today’s hottest stars as the hosts of VH1’s “Dear Mama: An Event to Honor Moms” special, airing at 10 p.m. on Monday.

Taking place at the Huntington Library, Art Collections and Botanical Gardens in Pasadena, Calif., the second annual Mother’s Day celebration features performances by Maxwell, Kelly Rowland, DJ Khaled, Ludacris and Robin Thicke, as well as the Queen of Hip-Hop Soul, Mary J. Blige, who will be in attendance to honor her mother, Cora Blige.

A nine-time Grammy Award winner, Blige, who will headline the 2017 Wawa Welcome America! Fourth of July concert on Benjamin Franklin Parkway, recently released a new album, appropriately titled “Strength of a Woman.” Now going through an “ugly divorce” from Martin “Kendu” Isaacs, her husband of 13 years, Blige, in an interview with NPR’s Rachel Martin, recalls channeling the strength that she saw in her own mother.

“We grew up in in a single-parent home. My mom raised us by herself, my dad wasn’t there,” said Blige. “And I never really seen this woman cry. I seen her work really, really hard. I see her love hard and take care of her children. We didn’t live in a great environment, but she was so strong. You never really saw her in pain. But through the songs she listened to, like ‘Victim’ by Candi Staton — you knew something was wrong. And as a child, I knew, but she never turned around and just started crying in our face. She just always carried herself like a woman, like a lady, and she never let us see her going through it.”

Singer/songwriter Robin Thicke also pays tribute to his famous mom, “Days of Our Lives” actress, Gloria Loring.

In a special highlight, Academy Award-winning actress Halle Berry is slated to present a distinct honor to a mother from the Jenesse Center, a nonprofit domestic violence organization based in Los Angeles. Jenesse Center, Inc. is a nationally recognized violence prevention and intervention organization that helps transition abuse victims into stable and safe environments.
