New Pearl restaurant going into current Nao space
When the Culinary Institute of America - San Antonio closes its student-run restaurant, Nao, to move to the former location of The Sandbar Fishhouse & Market, the space it leaves behind will get a serious makeover and a new restaurant, perhaps as early as fall of next year.
The new project is called Victoire, according to Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation records, and it will receive an estimated $1.6 million of interior renovations and exterior additions at this point set to start in January and go through August 2019.
A Pearl spokeswoman said there isn’t a firm moving date for Nao and she would not disclose details of Victoire. Rio Perla Properties, which owns the Pearl, is listed as the owner of the new project, with Clayton and Little Architects named as the design firm.
Restaurateur Andrew Weissman closed The Sandbar in 2016. The former home of Il Sogno, which Weissman closed in May, does not have a new tenant yet.
