Vanessa Williams to perform at Ridgefield Playhouse
Vanessa Williams will be bringing a night of songs from Broadway shows and pop hits to the Ridgefield Playhouse on Saturday, Nov. 4.
Williams will be singing numbers from the 2002 revival of “Into the Woods,” which earned her Tony nomination for playing the Witch, as well tunes from “Sondheim on Sondheim” and “After Midnight.” Among song titles planned for the concert are “The Sweetest Days,” “Save the Best for Last,” “Dreamin,’ ” and “Colors of the Wind.”
Williams told Playbill that she makes her home not far from Ridgefield and discovered the theater several years back when she surprised one of her friends with a birthday gift of tickets for an evening of clairvoyant Kim Russo at the venue.
Playbill also said Williams will be joined on stage in Ridgefield by her “After Midnight” co-star Carmen Ruby Floyd, who will duet with her on the show’s “Creole Love Call,” which Williams said is “her signature tune that stunned audiences night after night.”
Meanwhile, Williams recently landed a spot on the new CBS comedy “Me, Myself & I,” starring opposite her fellow Broadway alum John Larroquette. She plays his character’s arch rival, who eventually becomes his love interest, according to deadline.com.
VIP tickets include a preshow cocktail party in the lobby from 6:30-7:15 p.m. and a meet-and-greet with Williams to benefit the 25th anniversary of the Hord Foundation.
