DISTRICT 2 FIELD HOCKEY: Crestwood Shuts Out Wallenpaupack

At Crestwood, the Comets earned their most lopsided shutout win of a challenging year in which they’ve been hobbled by injuries, as they battled to a 6-0 win against Wallenpaupack in the District 2 Class 2A quarterfinals Wednesday.

Chloe Greene finished with three assists and Mackenzie Kile had two assists for the No. 4 Comets, who led 4-0 at halftime.

Alexis Armstrong, Emma Janosczyk, Alex Lipski and Abby Davis each scored a goal in the first half for Crestwood. Davis later assisted one of Aubrey Colo’s two goals in the second half.

Crestwood goalkeeper Olivia Novrocki made four saves in a shutout performance. No. 5 Wallenpaupack goalkeeper Madison Kier had five saves.

Crestwood (6-13-1) advances to play at No. 1 seed and reigning district champion Valley West in the semifinals at 10:30 a.m. Saturday.
