Former Wyoming Cowboys May and Maulhardt to receive a chance in NFL
LARAMIE, Wyo. — Former Wyoming linebacker D.J. May will try out for the Detroit Lions of the NFL next month.
May, a Federal Way, Washington, native, said he turned down offers from Seattle and the Saints to give himself the best chance of making a team.
May will participate in the Lions’ rookie camp as an undrafted free agent, he told the Casper Star-Tribune on Sunday. He had similar opportunities from Seattle and New Orleans but felt his best chances were with the Lions.
Also on Sunday, former Wyoming receiver Jake Maulhardt, who converted to tight end, received an invite from the New Orleans Saints to participate in their rookie camp.
The annual NFL Draft ended Saturday.
