Body of missing Ohio woman found in Smoky Mountains

KNOXVILLE, Tennessee — The body of an Ohio woman who had been missing since Sept. 25 was found Tuesday in the Great Smoky Mountains National Park, according to reports.

Mitzie “Sue” Clements, 53, of Cleves, Ohio, was found about two miles west of the Clingmans Dome parking area and three-quarters of a mile south of the Appalachian Trail, the Knoxville News Sentinel reports.

The cause of death has not been determined.

Clements became separated during a hike in the park with her daughter and went missing, CBS News reports.

More than 45 different agencies were involved in the search for Clements. The area is densely wooded and mountainous. Helicopters and K9 units were used in the search.

According to Local 12, Clements worked at the Metropolitan Sewer District of Cincinnati.
