Dancers to bring ‘Jungle Book’ to life
It’s a jungle out there, but Children’s Dance Theatre of Rochester will be happy to serve as your guide with an upcoming production of “The Jungle Book.”
The dance performance, to be presented April 27-30 at Rochester Civic Theatre, is based on Rudyard Kipling’s story of Mowgli and his adventures in the jungle.
Matthew Keefe is directing the show, with guest choreographers Penelope Freeh and Reinhard von Rabenau. Guest dancers are Brennan Benson, Antonio Lopez and Preston Stockert, all from the St. Paul Ballet, and Jalen Gisselquist from Continental Ballet. Sixty student dancers from throughout southeastern Minnesota and western Wisconsin will participate, with colorful costumes and sets for a full-scale theatrical production.
The show is family-friendly and will run about 105 minutes. This season marks the 30th anniversary of Children’s Dance Theatre. Past productions have included “The Adventures of Pinocchio” and “Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland.”
Performances are at 7 p.m. April 27 and 28, 2 p.m. and 7 p.m. April 29, and 2 p.m. April 30, on the main stage at Rochester Civic Theatre, 20 Civic Center Drive SE. Tickets are $20 for adults, $18 for ages 12 and younger, available at the RCT box office, 507-282-8481 and online at rochestercivictheatre.org.
