Scottville committee to hear marijuana presentation
SCOTTVILLE — City officials will meet Thursday with a representative from Michigan Marijuana Law Experts (MMLE) to discuss the possibility of opening a medical marijuana dispensary in Scottville.
Tom Reif, municipal consultant for MMLE, will address members of the city’s ordinance committee with a 20- to 30-minute presentation on the potential economic benefits of allowing a dispensary to operate within the city limits.
With new marijuana legislation — signed into law in 2016 and formally adopted statewide in December 2017 — now in effect, Scottville officials have the option to decide whether or not to opt into a system that allows medical marijuana dispensaries to apply to cities, townships and municipalities for licences to operate.
The ordinance committee meets with Reif at 5:30 p.m. Thursday at Scottville City Hall, 105 N. Main St.
