Maryland police shoot suspect at scene of possible crash
ANNAPOLIS, Md. (AP) — Police in Maryland say an assault suspect is recovering at a hospital after being shot by an officer.
The Anne Arundel County Police Department said Saturday that the unnamed suspect was shot Friday night. Police say he’ll be charged with seven crimes including assault and reckless endangerment.
The officer involved is a 20-year-veteran department veteran.
Police say in a news release that fire department rescue workers were confronted by an armed man after rushing to the scene of a possible crash involving a pedestrian about 10 miles (16 kilometers) west of Annapolis.
Rescuers called police, who say the man wouldn’t drop a knife and get on the ground as ordered. Police say the officer fired a single shot at the suspect. There were no injuries to fire or police personnel.
