March 7, 2017 GMT

A 3-day enforcement initiative netted multiple arrests and criminal charges for the Van Wert Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol.

The initiative, conducted between March 2 and 4, was part of 6 State Trooper Project, the highway patrol said.

The project is a collaborative effort between the Indiana, Michigan, Kentucky, Pennsylvania and West Virginia state police departments and the Ohio State Highway Patrol.

The enforcement was intended to remove illegal drugs and criminal activity from local communities, police said.

The Van Wert Post troopers conducted 301 traffic stops, arrested 10 for illegal drug possession, eight for possessing drug paraphernalia and two for illegal weapons violations. Troopers were also able to remove eight impaired drivers during the enforcement.

The initiative resulted in a total of 22 criminal charges filed, police said.
