Rhett Miller performs at Daryl’s House

December 17, 2016

Rhett Miller is the charismatic frontman for the alternative-country band, Old 97’s, from Texas. But he’s also busy as a solo artist, and will be performing next week at Daryl’s House in Pawling, N.Y.

Miller will be at the cozy venue on Wednesday, Dec. 28, where he’ll play a mix of music, including tunes from his 2015 album, “The Traveler.”

“The Traveler” includes contributions from members of Portland, Ore.-based band Black Prairie, which shares musicians with the Decemberists. Peter Buck and Scott McCaughey, of REM, play on it, as well.

Miller is a published writer of fiction and nonfiction, and “The Traveler” is his latest release. Discussing it in a news release, he said, “The Traveler” suggests you cannot understand the journey you are on unless you understand who you are, and “understanding who you are is the most damnably difficult journey of all. Untangling identity is painful but necessary.”
