LAS VEGAS (AP) _ A UNLV football player has pleaded guilty to a false imprisonment charge in an incident involving a female student in a dorm room.

Arthur Turner Jr. faces up to a year in prison when sentenced April 3 after entering the plea as part of an agreement with prosecutors.

Turner, a wide receiver from Louisiana who didn't play last year as a freshman because of academic problems, was originally charged with sexually assaulting the 18-year-old student. He faced a possible life prison sentence if convicted on that charge.

Deputy District Attorney John Lukens said the victim agreed to the deal and it ``is probably appropriate for the circumstances.''

Lukens said the incident early this year began after a party when the victim became intoxicated and consented to have sex with a man.

Lukens said that after the sex act, while the victim lay nearly unconscious, Turner was offered an opportunity by the man to have sex with her.

The woman later complained to police and Turner was arrested, although he claimed the sex was consensual.
