Oakmont Captures Holiday Tournament Title on Home Court; Lison Named MVP
ASHBURNHAM -- Kylie Lison again led the way as the Oakmont Regional girls’ basketball team

cruised to the Wachusett League Holiday Tournament title on its home court Friday night.
Lison finished with 14 points and nine rebounds for the Spartans (4-0) on her way to being named tournament MVP, and Oakmont cruised past Narragansett Regional, 49-20. Leah Pelkey was also solid offensively, recording 10 points and six rebounds, while Hannah Cravedi (9 steals) led a terrific defensive effort.
Oakmont recorded 18 total steals and just four turnovers in Friday’s win. That came after the Spartans had 21 steals and eight turnovers in Thursday’s tournament-opening victory over Clinton.
In Friday’s earlier consolation game, Clinton defeated Athol, 65-39.
Joining Lison on the all-tournament team were Monique Barbosa (Narragansett), Pelkey (Oakmont), Rachel Guinn (Clinton) and Haley Bigwood (Athol).

Rachel Romero led Fitchburg (0-3) with 11 points. The Red Raiders will next host Westboro on Thursday.

Johnrich Mbwambo won the 600 meters and the high jump to lead Monty Tech to victory on Thursday. Other winners for the Bulldogs (2-2) included Conor Dandy (300), Sam Landadio (50-meter hurdles) and Dan LeCain (shot put).
Monty Tech also faced off with Nipmuc on the day, losing that match, 56-33.

Katherine Tremblay won the 50-meter dash, Gabrielle Oliva took first in the 300, and Jeana Robillard was second in 50-meter hurdles to lead Monty Tech in Thursday’s defeat. Also for the Bulldogs (0-4), the 4x200 team of Kiara Wilbur, Tremblay, Robillard and Oliva was victorious.
Monty Tech also faced Whitinsville Christian on Thursday, losing 35-16.
