ISP makes largest marijuana bust of the year, seizes over 800 pounds
Over 800 pounds of marijuana was recently seized during a traffic stop when Troopers with the Idaho State Police stopped a vehicle on Interstate 15 near milepost 167, north of Dubois in Clark County.
Jonathan D. Speckman, 37, of Hainesville, Illinois, was stopped on on Dec. 15 at approximately 7:30 p.m. for a traffic violation and during the traffic stop an ISP K-9 drug dog detected the presence of drugs.
A search warrant was issued for the pickup and trailer and over 800 pounds of marijuana was discovered. The value of the marijuana is over $3 million dollars.
Speckman was booked into the Clark County jail for trafficking marijuana.
ISP was assisted in this investigation by the Clark County Sheriff’s Office.
According to ISP spokesman, Tim Marsano, this is the largest marijuana bust Idaho State Police conducted in 2018.
So far this year, ISP has seized more than 2,083 pounds of marijuana. In comparison, in 2017 that number was 1,375 pounds, in 2016 it was 508 pounds and in 2015 it was 458 pounds.
