Lowell Crews Put Out Backhoe Fire at Concrete Business

May 6, 2019

LOWELL -- Firefighters are investigating what caused a backhoe to burst into flames at an industrial facility in the city’s Acre neighborhood on Sunday night.

Firefighters arrived at Boston Concrete, 706 Broadway St., around 8:45 p.m. to find the backhoe on fire, Lowell Fire Deputy Chief Bob Beane said.

The fire was extinguished “rather quickly,” he added. No injuries were reported.

Lowell police closed a portion of Broadway Street while firefighters put out the flames.
