GANDEEVILLE, W.Va. (AP) — A state trooper and a sheriff’s deputy were shot at in West Virginia, leaving one officer wounded.

West Virginia State Police spokesman Capt. Reggie Patterson told news outlets 52-year-old Stanley Gordon Hoskins Jr. fired on the trooper and Roane County deputy as they responded Wednesday to a report of a person threatening suicide.

State Police First Sgt. O.S. Starsick says one officer took 6 shotgun pellets to the upper thigh. The deputy took a shotgun blast to the bottom of his pants leg, but wasn’t struck.
