Fundraiser will be Sunday for man battling brain cancer
DIXON – A benefit Sunday to help a 23-year-old with brain cancer runs from 3 to 7 p.m. at That Place on Palmyra, 628 Palmyra Road.
Bo Olson is the son of Rob and Karin (Patten) Olson, both Sterling High School graduates who live in Iowa City, Iowa. Bo’s grandparents are Bob and Marge Olson of Sterling and Warren and Eva Jane (Dingman) Patten of Rock Falls.
Bo, who attends Kirkwood Community College in Iowa City, was diagnosed Nov. 16. Surgery removed most of the tumor, and he has since had chemotherapy and radiation and now is being monitored by doctors at Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota, Marge Olson said.
Sunday’s activities will include a cornhole toss throughout the day, with eight bags for $5 and a 25-bag toss for $10. Bags entries get a ticket for an hourly drawing for $10 gift cards to Starbucks and Buffalo Wild Wings, while the high scorer will win a cornhole set.
Silent auctions will include dinner for eight at Candlelight Inn in Sterling, Rock Falls, or Clinton, Iowa, a handcrafted oak corner table, and an acoustic guitar with amp autographed by country musician Keith Urban.
There also will be a 50-50 raffle.
Call or text Patten at 815-441-9273 or 815-213-8882, or Olson at 815-441-3144, for more information or to donate auction items.
