March 15, 2019

BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) — North Dakota regulators say the state’s oil production remained at a near-record level in January.

The Department of Mineral Resources says the state produced an average of 1.4 million barrels of oil daily in January. That was down less than 400 barrels a day from the record set in December.

North Dakota also produced a record 2.7 billion cubic feet of natural gas per day in January, up from 2.65 billion cubic feet in December. A record 15,397 wells were producing in January.

The January tallies are the latest figures available.

There were 65 drill rigs operating in North Dakota on Friday, down one from the January average.
