HUNTINGTON — The Collis P. Huntington Railroad Historical Society wrapped up its first weekend of holiday train special events Sunday with an evening with Santa Claus.

The Holiday Train Social will return next weekend, Dec. 22 and 23, ensuring children can get their last minute requests in to the big man before Christmas. There will be two events nightly at 6 p.m. and 7:30 p.m.

This non-moving event with Santa takes place on two of the Society’s historic rail cars that are parked over at the tracks by the floodwall (across from the Cabell Huntington Convention and Visitors Bureau, 210 11th St.).

Tickets for the Holiday Train Special are $15 for children ages 2–13 and $20 for everyone else. Everyone will get hot chocolate and cookies, and children will get a stuffed animal and a bell from Santa, along with a reading of “Twas the Night Before Christmas.”

The society is also hosting an adult event Friday, Dec. 21. The cost is $69 per person for the three-course meal aboard the Society’s historic rail cars. When folks order, they can make their selection of salmon, prime rib or chicken.
