Police: 2 children safe, weren’t in car that was stolen
HARTFORD, Conn. (AP) — Hartford police say two young girls were found safe after they were mistakenly believed to be in a car when it was stolen.
Officials say the cousins, ages 8 and 9, were in the car Tuesday morning when one of their mothers dropped off a third child at a day care.
When she left the day care, her car was gone and she called 911.
Police later determined the girls had left the car before it was stolen and they were found safe at their schools.
Officers found the stolen car and arrested 19-year-old Elijah Jorden, of East Hartford. Police say Jorden rammed a police cruiser and was found with a gun and marijuana.
It wasn’t clear if Jorden has a lawyer who could respond to the allegations.
