Southtown restaurant, bar closed for December facelift
After six months of business, a Southtown restaurant and bar has shut down for the rest of 2018 with plans to relaunch the property in January.
Jeff Scecina, co-owner of The Patio Southtown, said that the property (which closed Thursday) at 1035 S. Presa St. will transition into a more adult-oriented business after discovering that the customer base tended to hover in the 20 to 40 age demographic, instead of the original family-friendly audience.
Scecina said the floors and building will be repainted, an outdoor adult play area with Jenga and chess boards will be installed and the bar and food menus will be revamped.
“We’re going to pair the food menu down, but introduce five or six new items,” Scecina said. “We’ll still do our margaritas, but we want to bring in a more advanced bar staff with craft drinks.”
Scecina plans to reopen the spot on Jan. 2.
