Police Defense Bomb In Diplomatic Quarter On Summit Eve
BONN, West Germany (AP) _ A homemade bomb was found in the diplomatic quarter today and was defused shortly after President Reagan arrived to take part in a seven-nation economic summit.
The explosive was found in Bad Godesburg about 16 miles from the guest house where Reagan is staying.
No one was hurt.
The bomb was discovered in a blue shoulder bag on the terrace of the building housing the Federal Association of German Air and Space Travel, according to police spokeswoman Eva Schaadt-Ruetzel.
″The bomb was dicovered by an observant citizen, who immediately informed police,″ Mrs. Schaadt-Ruetzel said.
She said the bomb was made of explosives packed into a fire extinguisher and was defused by a police bomb squad.
Police have begun an investigation, but as yet have no leads, Mrs. Schaadt- Ruetzel said.
Security has been extremely tight for the conference. More than 11,000 police are on duty in the West German capital.
