Delaware man facing charges after shooting, standoff
MIDDLETOWN, Del. (AP) — A Delaware man was arrested after shooting at an occupied home before barricading himself inside his house for several hours, police said.
Delaware State Police arrested Richard P. Money II, 42, of Middletown on Tuesday after a standoff that lasted about five hours.
Authorities said the incident began shortly before 10 p.m. Monday when troopers were called about shots being fired at a house in Smyrna. Troopers were told that Money had fired several shots at a house occupied by people he knew before fleeing.
None of the occupants was injured.
Troopers located Money at his home in Middletown about 6 a.m. Tuesday.
Police say Money was brandishing a firearm and that a trooper fired his own weapon at Money, but missed.
Money was taken into custody shortly before 11 a.m. He is charged with possession of a deadly weapon during the commission of a felony, reckless endangering, endangering the welfare of a child, criminal mischief and shooting across a roadway.
Money was being held in custody with a cash bond set at $295,000.
It was not immediately clear whether Money has an attorney.
