Man exposes self to librarian in Stamford

February 16, 2018

STAMFORD-Police continue to look for a man who exposed himself to a librarian at the Weed Memorial Library on Springdale early Thursday afternoon.

Sgt. Brian Butler said a black male walked into the library at 1143 Hope Street just before 12:37 p.m. asking for a library card. But the man could not produce any identification for the female librarian and was refused.

The man then asked where the murder mystery books of James Patterson books were kept. But when the woman looked up at the man to show him where they were, his pants were down and his penis was exposed. No mystery there.

The librarian then yelled for the man to leave. He quickly apologized and made his way out through the front door, Butler said. Police immediately responded to the area, but could not locate the suspect.

The man was described as being in his mid-30s, having a medium build with short hair and a few days facial growth. He was about five-foot-seven inches tall and was wearing a green zip-up sweat shirt and gray sweat pants.

Butler said the video tape at the library did not work and images of the man were unavailable.
