Lawsuit: Christus St. Vincent surgeon operated on wrong knee
A Los Alamos woman is suing Christus St. Vincent Regional Medical Center, claiming that when she went in for arthoscopic surgery on her left knee in 2016, the surgeon operated on her right knee instead.
Corina Gonzales says in her complaint — which also names the doctor, several nurses and other surgical staff as defendants — that she was in recovery from the surgery when she discovered the operation had been performed on the wrong knee. The suit says she was taken back into the operating room where the surgery was performed on her other knee.
The lawsuit, which alleges negligence and medical malpractice, seeks an unspecified amount of damages.
Hospital spokesman Arturo Delgado on Friday declined to comment on the pending litigation.
