Rojas advances to championship round at Stage 5 in Alabama
Lake Havasu City angler Dean Rojas had another big day on Smith Lake, reeling in the eighth-best catch of the day to advance to the championship round for the first time this season at Stage Five of the Major League Fishing Bass Pro Tour in Cullman, Alabama.
The round was delayed for 90 minutes by a torrential downpour that swept through the area in the morning, shortening the amount of time the top 40 fisherman from the first four days of competition had to fish a big round.
Rojas reeled in 21 bass weighing a total of 32 pounds, 10 ounces to finish eighth in the round. Oklahoma’s Jason Christie, who dominated the first two rounds in Group B, caught 27 fish weighing 48-3 to top the round again. The top 10 anglers from the round advanced.The scores will be zeroed out for today’s championship round. Competition begins at 7 a.m. MST and will be streamed online at MajorLeagueFishing.com.
