Aubrey Wins Nike Wichita Open
WICHITA, Kan. (AP) _ Emlyn Aubrey, who shot a course record 61 on Friday, had a 5-under-par 67 Sunday to win the Nike Wichita Open by one stroke.
Aubrey finished at 23-under par for the tournament, one stroke ahead of Anthony Rodriguez and Carl Paulson at the Willowbend Golf Club.
``I would have been disappointed if I had wasted that course record and the big lead,″ Aubrey said. ``It’s been so long since I won, I was a little nervous to start the day.″
Aubrey last won at the 1993 Nike Miami Valley Open.
Aubrey birdied No. 11, 12 and 14 to tie for the lead. Aubrey then moved ahead with a birdie on the par-5 16th hole.
Rodriguez could have tied Aubrey with an eagle on the 309-yard 18th hole, but missed the green and settled for a birdie and second-place tie with Paulson, of Orlando, Fla.
