Gayle S. Lyke, Busseyville

BUSSEYVILLE — Gayle S. Lyke, of Busseyville, passed away peacefully on July 23, 2017, surrounded by her family.

Gayle was born on March 30, 1934. She moved to her beloved farm near Busseyville in 1970.

She was a gardener, farmer, quilter, lover of cats and dogs, and all things in nature. She never was afraid to try something new or challenging.

Gayle will be remembered by all who met her for her unique outlook on life and wry wit.

She will be missed by many friends and neighbors. She was adored and deeply loved by her family.

Gayle is survived by her son, Gregory Lyke of Florida; daughter, Maren Swenson; son-in-law, Erik Swenson; granddaughter, Axelina Swenson of St. Paul, Minn.; grandson, Per-Gustav Swenson of Olympia, Wash.; cousins, Robert, Debra and Richard Manchester; aunt, June Manchester; nephews, Stephen and David Askey; and niece, Marianne Gilbertson.

She was preceded in death by parents, Delmar Fink and Elizabeth Manchester Fink; sister, Nedra Askey; and husband, Richard Lyke.

A memorial service will be held Saturday, Oct. 21, at 11 a.m. at East Koshkonong Lutheran Church, 454 Church St. in Cambridge.

Visitation will be one hour prior to the service.

Memorials in Gayle’s name are preferred to the International Crane Foundation.
