Kathleen J. “Kay” Kennebeck -- Plainview

Kathleen Jean Kennebeck, 88, of Plainview, formerly of Wabasha and Kellogg, died Wednesday, March 1, 2017 at St. Isidore Health Center of Greenwood Prairie in Plainview. She was born Jan. 20, 1929 in Wabasha, the daughter of Louis and Pearl (Dugan) Kennebeck. Kay was raised on farms in the Kellogg area. She graduated from Kellogg High School in 1947. She married Anthony Macias in San Antonio in 1953. They later divorced. Kay worked in the hotel industry in Texas and California for many years. Later she moved to Alaska where she worked 31 years in management at Big Timber Hotels in Anchorage. In 1991 she moved to Wabasha to be near her family. While in Wabasha she worked part-time at the Nelson Hotel in Nelson, Wis. and at Paul Schuth Insurance in Wabasha. She moved to St. Elizabeth’s Health Care Center in Wabasha in 2004 and for the past six years she lived at St. Isidore’s in Plainview.

Kay is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Barbara and Bill Deming, Wabasha; nieces, Nancy (Darrell) Cox, Vale, S.D., Rhonda (Roy) Waterland, Vale, S.D., and Ellen (Roger) O’Grady, Sturgis, S.D.; nephew, Ron (Ellen) Kennebeck, Sturgis, S.D. and sister-in-law, Caroline Kennebeck, Sturgis, SD. She was preceded in death by her parents, Louis and Pearl Kennebeck; brother, Robert Kennebeck and infant brother, William Kennebeck.

A memorial service will be held 1:30 p.m. Saturday, March 25, at the Abbott Funeral Home in Wabasha with Deacon John Hust officiating. Family and friends may call at the funeral home one hour before the service. The Abbott Funeral Home of Wabasha is in charge of arrangements. www.abbottfh.com.
