Prep Boys Basketball: Glendale comes back to defeat CCA, 40-36

GLENDALE — Connor McGuire stepped up for the Glendale Pirates to lead them to a 40-36 comeback win over Canyonville Christian Academy in Tuesday’s nonleague contest.

CCA (3-10) led 32-27 after the third quarter, but Glendale (12-4, 2-3 Skyline) outscored the Pilots 13-4 in the final quarter.

McGuire made 5-of-6 free throws in the fourth quarter to lead Glendale (12-4, 2-3 Skyline) and finished with 15 points overall.

“We’ve been waiting for Connor to have a break out game,” Glendale coach Tom Ford said. “He has the potential to lead us and him making 5-of-6 free throws down the stretch made the difference for us today.”

Devin Lee had a double-double with 12 points and 11 reounds and Tristan Ware added nine assists and four steals to his 11 points.

Cherokee Lester led CCA with 13 points.
