LAKE DELTON – Businesses in an area outlet shopping mall are banding together to help area charities while encouraging shoppers to visit their stores.

The Outlets at the Dells will host its annual Shopping Extravaganza from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday.

Proceeds from $20 tickets sold for the event will benefit 18 area charities, including the Friends of the Baraboo Zoo and Assist WI. Those who purchase tickets can choose which charity they prefer to support with $15 from the ticket cost.

Participants will receive a lunch catered by Bobber’s Island Grill, a fudge tasting, gift bags, live music, opportunities to win prizes and exclusive discounts.

Marketing Events Manager Steve Carpenter said more than $14,000 in prizes and savings will be offered during the event.

“With our inaugural event last year the turnout for the community was stupendous. Event goers had a really great time,” Carpenter said. “This year we are hoping to have an even greater turnout more fun and raise even more money for our charities, because that is what it is all about.”

Friends of the Baraboo Zoo President Kandie Beckwith said she looks forward to the event.

“They are just going out of their way to help the nonprofits,” she said. “This will help us go to the top in our efforts to bring the otters to the zoo.”

Assist WI works to support people with physical disabilities through adaptive activities and fitness and is another group that will benefit from the event.

“We are excited to showcase a piece of equipment for trail accessibility, which we will demo in the early afternoon,” said Assist WI Program Director Will Meissner.
