Body found in car submerged in South Florida canal
TAMARAC, Fla. (AP) — Rescue workers have recovered a man’s body from a car found submerged in a South Florida canal, authorities said.
Broward County deputies and Tamarac Fire Rescue responded to reports of the submerged car near an apartment complex Thursday morning, according to the sheriff’s office. A dive team was able to recover the body several hours later. A tow truck pulled the car from the canal.
Family members at the nearby complex identified the victim to news outlets as Lachtowiz Frazier, 27. He worked at two jobs while studying at Broward College, the family members said.
Officials didn’t say what caused the car to go into the canal or how long it had been there. A damaged guardrail and a snapped tree could be seen between the complex parking lot and the canal.
